Legacy Review

I forget, did the crew ever conclusively say whether this episode would be affected by Flashpoint? All I remember is Stephen Amell waffling. I suppose the statue in the trailer should have been a clue that Laurel was still dead, but apparently she's coming back eventually. It would have been nice to have at least some reference to the new timeline, but that doesn't appear to have happened. If we don't see something next week, then I'm going to have a problem.

Oliver definitely needs to form a new team. Diggle and Thea will probably come round eventually, but that's only evidenced by the nature of the genre. He needs to accept that they're not coming back and move forward. Besides, when they do come back, now the team is even larger and can cover more ground. Oliver operated on his own in the field for over a year, so he's got things handled. However, a team has numerous tactical advantages that are not really provided by a skinny blonde on the other side of town.

Are we supposed to know who Felicity's boyfriend is? I know the producers were staying mum, but I'm not sure if we're supposed to recognize the actor. I can't usually recall a face from a single casting announcement, so it might be someone whose casting has already been announced. In fact, based on the lack of any such announcement on my Twitter feed, it's probably one of the known new characters. Okay, I guess I answered my own question there.

I'm curious to see how Oliver goes from Russian Bratva back to Lian Yu. For a while this spring, I thought he was just going to stay there after the ARGUS operation. However, I couldn't really think of a good reason why. Based on the state of his clothes and beard in the pilot, Oliver had likely been on the island for at least a month before he was picked up by those fishermen. He was also clearly ready to go home. He's had at least three or four opportunities to go home by this point in the flashbacks, but he wasn't ready any of those times. I wonder if he was even on the island willingly in the pilot. It'd be interesting if he asked to be left there.
