Pearl Mackie Cast as New DW Companion

The BBC has announced today that Pearl Mackie (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time) has been cast in Doctor Who as the new companion, Bill. They also released a special preview scene featuring her and the Doctor.

    So why do they turn and face the Dalek shooting at them, then freeze in the headlights?
