Hunger Games Prequel Title & Cover

Scholastic announced today that the prequel to the Hunger Games trilogy will be titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The novel will be released in bookstores next May.

Hunger Games Prequel in Development

Scholastic announced today that Suzanne Collins will be writing a prequel novel to her Hunger Games trilogy. The currently-untitled book will be set 64 years before the original, ten years after the failed rebellion by the thirteen districts of the fictional nation of Panem. It will be released in digital, print, and audio formats on May 19 of next year. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman, Joe Drake, commented,

As the proud home of the 'Hunger Games' movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne's next book to be published. We've been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.

Scholastic Trade president Ellie Berger said,

The Hunger Games Extended Scenes

In addition to last weekend's deleted scene, Lionsgate has released two extended scenes from the 2012 movie. The second video only contains footage from the first film, but is described as a flashback from the most recent. It also doesn't seem to like being embedded on other sites, so if it doesn't work, go here.

Yes, you read that right, this scene is from the first film in the series. It's only now been released as part of the four film collection.

Mockingjay, Part 2 Home Video Details

Lionsgate has released information on the home video release of Mockingjay, Part 2. The Blu-ray, DVD, and digital SD versions will be available on March 22 in the US and Canada. The digital HD version will go on sale March 8. The iTunes and Blu-ray releases will include the following extra features:
