The Abominable Bride as 4x01, so that's the next episode. Filming technically kicked off on Monday, but the
press release is dated today. Talalay has also directed the past two season finales of Doctor Who and a number of American programs. Cumberbatch commented that he was,
genuinely thrilled to be back filming Sherlock with all the cast and
crew. I can't wait for everyone to see season four. But you will have to
wait... though not for long... And it will be worth it.

It's taken a while to gather everyone together for series four, but I
can confidently say I think it will be well worth the wait!
The press release says that the first story will focus on John and Mary's baby, but obviously there's got to be some sort of mystery involved. No word on the release date (it's probably far too early for anything but a rough estimate), but a previous report stated that it's going to be sometime early next year. If they follow the pattern for the past few seasons, expect an episode on January 1.
