Ava DuVernay to Direct New Gods

Deadline is reporting that Ava DuVernay will direct a live action movie based on DC's New Gods series. The story takes place on two planets called New Genesis and Apokolips (home of Darkseid, who was supposed to appear in Justice League). Deadline's article says "there is no connection to the other DC worlds being exploited for film right now," which could mean it's not part of the DCEU, unless they mean world as in planet.

There's currently no word on who will be writing the script. DuVernay is the fifth woman to ever direct a live action comic book movie.
