New Warriors Switching Networks

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is trying to find a new network to air their upcoming New Warriors series. The show was originally picked up by Disney's Freeform, but they've passed on it after being unable to find room in their four nights a week of original content. The show has apparently received very good reviews from test audiences, which should help Marvel market it to other networks.

Keith David Cast in New Warriors

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Keith David has landed a recurring role in Marvel's New Warriors series. He will play city employee Ernest Vigman, whose attitude puts him at odds with the New Warriors.

Characters Announced for New Warriors

Marvel has announced the list of heroes that will be appearing in their New Warriors comedy series. The team will include Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl, Craig Hollis/Mister Immortal, Dwayne Taylor/Night Thrasher, Robbie Baldwin/Speedball, Zack Smith/Microbe, and Deborah Fields/Debrii. They've also included a picture, though I'm not sure if this is custom-drawn for the show or just lifted from the comics.

New Warriors Ordered Straight to Series

Freeform has ordered Marvel's New Warriors straight to series (meaning they don't need to produce a pilot episode). New Warriors is described as

six young people with powers living and working together.  With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of The Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world… Even if the world isn’t ready.  Not quite super, not yet heroes, “Marvel’s New Warriors” is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once — except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.

The series will Squirrel Girl in a prominent role and consist of 10 30-minute episodes. It will debut sometime next year.

New Warriors Series in Development

ABC Studios and Marvel are reportedly developing a new comedy series about a team of teenage superheroes dubbed the New Warriors. This team would include Squirrel Girl, among others. The half-hour series is currently looking for a home network.
