NBC has released a synopsis for next week's series finale of Timeless.

As Christmas arrives in the Bunker, the Time Team is inspired by a visit from their future selves to find a way to try to save Rufus (Malcolm Barrett). But when the Mothership jumps to 1848 California, they're forced to put those plans on hold and chase Rittenhouse back to the Gold Rush, where they encounter one of the era's most dangerous villains. Then chasing the Mothership to Korea in the winter of 1950, our team helps a stranded, pregnant refugee attempt to escape a tragic fate. Stuck with no way out, our team faces its toughest challenge yet, and in the process, come to terms with their feelings for each other. Also starring Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Goran Višnjic, Sakina Jaffrey, Paterson Joseph and Claudia Doumit.

Timeless Finale Date Confirmed

NBC has confirmed that the two-hour series finale of Timeless will air on December 20 at 8pm ET.

Timeless Finale Movie Writers & Director

The official Timeless writers' room Twitter account has announced that the two hour series finale will be written by Lauren Greer and Arika Lisanne Mittman and directed by John Showalter. The episodes will air sometime in December.

Both hours will be directed by John Showalter (director "The Capture of Benedict Arnold", "The Murder of Jesse James", "Hollywoodland" and "The General"). Shooting will begin in October.

Timeless Finale Movie Confirmed

Okay, did Eric Kripke sell his soul to Crowley in exchange for all his shows having unusually long lifespans? First, Supernatural got 14 seasons with no signs of slowing down, and now Timeless has been uncancelled, not once, but TWICE.

After the series was cancelled (again) on a cliffhanger, NBC has ordered a two-part series finale of Timeless. The story will air sometime during the holiday season and star all the main cast. Showrunners Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke commented,

While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of ‘Timeless,’ this is the next best thing. We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?

Timeless Canceled (Again)

NBC has canceled Timeless for the second time in as many seasons. NBC and Sony are reportedly in talks to develop a TV movie to deal with the cliffhanger. However, given how long negotiations have been going on (decisions were made on most other shows a month ago) and the fact that they'd have to renegotiate cast contracts, it's probably a long-shot.

2x09 "The General" (airs an hour before the regular time)

When the Mothership jumps to South Carolina in 1863, the Time Team partners up with a courageous Union spy and military leader, Harriet Tubman - AKA "The General" - to thwart Rittenhouse's plan to alter the outcome of the Civil War. Back in the present, Rittenhouse hits the team where it hurts the most.

2x10 "Chinatown"

SEASON FINALE - When Jiya (Claudia Doumit) makes a daring escape from Rittenhouse that strands her in San Francisco's Chinatown in 1888 with no way home, the fractured Time Team goes back to save her in this emotional and action-packed finale that leaves the team questioning everything.
