Xochitl Gomez Cast in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Deadline is reporting that actress Xochitl Gomez has landed an unspecified role in the upcoming Doctor Strange movie.

Marvel and Sony have made additional changes to their movie release schedules.

• Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: November 5, 2021 → March 25, 2022
• Thor: Love and Thunder: February 18, 2022 → February 11, 2022

Disney Updates Marvel Movie Schedule, Dates Captain Marvel 2

Disney has announced that Black Widow has been pushed back to November 6 of this years, instead of the originally-announced May date, as a result of the current pandemic. This knocks The Eternals off its release date, creating a domino effect. The Eternals will now be released on February 12, 2021, pushing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to May 7, which pushes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to November 5, which in turns moves Thor: Love and the Thunder to February 18, 2022. Black Panther 2 is still on track for May 2022 and the sequel to Captain Marvel is now set for July 8, 2022 (taking over a July 29 untitled slot).

Scott Derrickson Steps Down at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Director

Scott Derrickson has left his role as director of the Doctor Strange sequel due to creative differences (possibly due to the horror aspects of the movie). He will remain onboard as executive producer.

Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.

Scott Derrickson to Direct Doctor Strange Sequel

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Derrickson (director of the 2016 Doctor Strange movie) has signed on to direct a sequel. Filming is scheduled to start early in 2020, after a writer is found. It should be noted that Marvel has not formally confirmed the existence of a Doctor Strange sequel, or any other film after next year.
