Doom Patrol Returning This Summer

DC has announced that the second season of Doom Patrol will premiere on DC Universe and HBO Max on Thursday, June 25, with new episodes weekly. The synopsis for the new season reads,
DC’s strangest group of heroes are back again to save the world. Following the defeat of Mr. Nobody (Alan Tudyk - “Harley Quinn”), the members of the Doom Patrol find themselves shrunken and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. Here they begin to deal with their feelings of betrayal by Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton - “Hot Fuzz”), while confronting their own personal baggage. As each member faces the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family: Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro - “Broadway Kids Against Bullying: I Have a Voice”), Niles’ daughter, whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world.

Timothy Dalton Cast in Doom Patrol

DC has announced that they've cast Timothy Dalton (James Bond, Doctor Who) at the leader of the Doom Patrol. The character, Dr. Niles Caulder (aka the Chief) is described as,
a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant, but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.
There were reports a few months ago that a different actor was cast as Caulder, so I'm not sure if he was recast or what's going on.

Doom Patrol Series Announced

DC has announced the development of a Doom Patrol series for their upcoming streaming platform, DC Universe. The 2019 series is a spin-off of Titans and will be produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Jeremy Carver, and Geoff Johns. The synopsis reads,
DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities—but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence—and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.
