Danny Rand to Appear in Luke Cage Season 2

Marvel has announced that Finn Jones will be appearing as Danny Rand in the second season of Luke Cage. They did not specify how many episodes he will be appearing in.

Marvel's new Iron Fist series has received largely negative reviews from critics. Star Finn Jones hit back at these reviews, telling the Metro

These shows are not made for critics, they are first and foremost made for the fans. I also think some of the reviews we saw were seeing the show through a very specific lens, and I think when the fans of the Marvel Netflix world and fans of the comic books view the show through the lens of just wanting to enjoy a superhero show, then they will really enjoy what they see.

For reference, Suicide Squad received atrocious reviews, but still made over $700 million at the box office.

Entertainment Weekly has released a new video featuring footage from Iron Fist and an interview with Finn Jones. There's also a motion poster to boot.

Defenders Villain Revealed

Entertainment Weekly has an article out on the upcoming Defenders series. They've revealed that Sigourney Weaver's villain is someone named Alexandra who is not based in the comics. They also have the first photo of her (which might be the first pic from the show) and a behind the scenes video with cast interviews. The article also states that the Defenders will arrive in summer, which I'm guessing means a fall air date for Punisher. Maybe, they did both start filming around the same time, but Defenders has less episodes.

Iron Fist Filming, April 19

I didn't realize production had already started on Iron Fist. Apparently they were filming in the streets of New York yesterday. Typically, these shows start filming maybe 8-10 months before airing, so expect a spring 2017 release date. Also, those casting announcements were definitely withheld for a while. I mean, the announcement for Jessica here was only the day before these pictures were taken.

Marvel Confirms Finn Jones Casting

Marvel has officially confirmed last month's report that Finn Jones has been cast as the lead for Iron Fist. Showrunner Scott Buck commented,

Danny Rand is a very complicated character. He’s a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who’s still trying to figure out what exactly that all means. Finn is able to play all these levels in such an honest, revelatory way that as soon as I saw him I knew he was our Danny.

Marvel head of television Jeph Loeb said,

Finn wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability, making him the perfect choice as he struggles to find his place in the world. Now that we’ve found our Danny Rand, we’ve completed our principal cast for the upcoming Defenders on Netflix and we are thrilled to continue to show audiences unexplored corners of the Marvel Universe.

Finn Jones Cast as Danny Rand

Marvel and Netflix have cast Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) as the lead in the Iron Fist series, multiple news sites have reported. In the comics, Danny trained in the martial arts in the mystical city K'un L'un, where he gained powers of healing, telepathy, super strength, and super reflexes. There is currently no release date scheduled for the show. However, based on the fact that Jessica Jones and Matt Murdock were each cast about a year before their series' respective debuts, I'm going to go ahead and guesstimate at a spring 2017 release date.
