Michelle Gomez Leaving Doctor Who
Michelle Gomez has announced she will no longer be playing Missy after the current season of Doctor Who.
UPDATE: That announcement seems to have been premature
My pals are going so I’m going. Everybody’s leaving, so I’m going too. I mean, what would I do without Peter and Steven? Who would I be? Nah, it’s done now. It’s over. It’s the end of a chapter. However, she is open to returning some day, telling Digital Spy,
Never say never! I'm sure in a couple of years' time, the urge to blow things up will just be too strong and Missy will come in guns blazing! But at the moment, it just feels like this is the end of an era - there may be something in the future but at the moment, I feel like this is the end of chapter. She might not return anytime soon though, because if Chibnall does choose to use the Master, he may decide to cast a new one.
UPDATE: That announcement seems to have been premature

Justin Chatwin Cast in Doctor Who
The Radio Times has posted that Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, Orphan Black) will be playing a "superhero character" in the upcoming Christmas special. I guess even Doctor Who has to capitalize on the popularity of superheros. They've also confirmed what fans have known since filming began, that Nardole will be in the special, as well. An anonymous source said,
The Doctor won’t have a temporary companion this Christmas and essentially that space will be taken by Nardole. He’s not a companion as such but it’s not as if he doesn’t play a similar role.

Steven Moffat Leaving Doctor Who
The Radio Times has reported that Steven Moffat will be leaving his role as showrunner of Doctor Who at the end of season 10. Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch) will replace him in season 11. According to the article, the Christmas special will be the only story airing in 2016, with season 10 coming in spring 2017 and 11 in 2018. Moffat commented,
Feels odd to be talking about leaving when I’m just starting work on the scripts for season 10, but the fact is my timey-wimey is running out. While Chris is doing his last run of Broadchurch, I’ll be finishing up on the best job in the universe and keeping the TARDIS warm for him. It took a lot of gin and tonic to talk him into this, but I am beyond delighted that one of the true stars of British Television drama will be taking the Time Lord even further into the future. At the start of season 11, Chris Chibnall will become the new showrunner of Doctor Who. And I will be thrown in a skip.Chibnall said,
Doctor Who is the ultimate BBC programme: bold, unique, vastly entertaining, and adored all around the world. So it's a privilege and a joy to be the next curator of this funny, scary and emotional family drama. I’ve loved Doctor Who since I was four years old, and I’m relishing the thought of working with the exceptional team at BBC Wales to create new characters, creatures and worlds for the Doctor to explore. Steven’s achieved the impossible by continually expanding Doctor Who's creative ambition, while growing its global popularity. He’s been a dazzling and daring showrunner, and hearing his plans and stories for 2017, it’s clear he’ll be going out with a bang. Just to make my life difficult.

Scene Cut from Robot of Sherwood
The Radio Times has announced that a scene has been cut from this week's Doctor Who due to recent events in the Middle East.
A beheading sequence from the climax of this Saturday’s episode of Doctor Who, Robot of Sherwood, has been edited out by the BBC as a mark of respect in the light of recent news events in Iraq and Syria.
The edit has been made to remove a decapitation in the climatic fight scene between Robin Hood and the Sheriff; something that could be deemed insensitive after two US journalists were killed by IS (Islamic State) militants in the past month.
Robot of Sherwood is written by Mark Gatiss and was filmed in February, long before the IS hit the headlines. It centres around Peter Capaldi’s twelfth Doctor and Jenna Coleman’s Clara meeting the flamboyant Robin Hood, played by Tom Riley.
A spokesman for the BBC said: “In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to episode three out of respect.”

Moffat Gives Series 8 Sneak Peek
In the new issue of the Radio Times, Steven Moffat has given a preview of the new series.
- Deep Breath - Killers stalk London in the late 1890′s. A restaurant that is actually a slaughterhouse and a buried spaceship see the Doctor confronting a long-forgotten foe.
- Into The Dalek - A miniaturised team embark on a fantastic voyage into a Dalek so damaged it has become good.
- Robot of Sherwood – The Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars in Sherwood Forest. Who is real and who isn’t?
- Listen – What scares the Doctor? Ghosts of the past and future crowd into the lives of the Doctor and Clara; a terrified caretaker in a children’s home, the last man standing in the universe, and a little boy who doesn’t want to join the army… “What’s that in the mirror, and the corner of your eye? What’s the footstep following, but never passing by?”
- Time Heist - The Doctor is tasked with breaking into the Bank of Karabraxos, the deadliest in the cosmos. He is helped by a beautiful shape-shifter and cyber-augmented gamer. But nothing can prepare them for the Teller: a creature that can detect guilt.
- The Caretaker - Clara has it all under control, so long as everybody in her life never actually meets, but then Coal Hill welcomes a new relief caretaker with a Scottish accent, while the Skovox Blitzer is ready to destroy humanity.
- Kill the Moon - In the near future, the Doctor and Clara arrive on a decrepit shuttle making a suicide mission to the Moon. Crashing on the lunar surface, they find a mining base full of eviscerated corpses, spider-like creatures scuttling about in the dark, and a terrible dilemma.
- Mummy on the Orient Express - The Mummy is stalking the passengers and if it sees you you have 66 seconds to live. Clara sees the Doctor at his most deadliest and most ruthless and realises it’s time to say goodbye.
- Flatline - Clara is now separated from the Doctor and discovers a threat from another dimension. But how do you hide when even the walls are no protection? With no Doctor around, Clara goes against a foe that exists beyond normal perception.
- In the Forest of the Night – The human race wakes up to the most surprising invasion yet: the trees have moved back in. Everywhere a forest has grown overnight and taken back the Earth.
- Dark Water / Death in Heaven - In the mysterious
world of the Nethersphere, plans have been drawn. Old friends and old
enemies manoeuvre around the Doctor, and an impossible choice is looming
over him. Death is not an end, promises the organisation known as 3W.
“You betrayed me. You betrayed my trust, our friendship, and everything I’ve ever stood for. You let me down.”

Age of Ultron Footage Screening
Marvel held a Q&A session with journalists for Guardians of the Galaxy earlier today in which they screened rough footage from Avengers: Age of Ultron. There were only a few scenes, but viewers saw Tony Stark in his Hulkbuster armor, the Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye fighting together, Captain America and Black Widow on motorcycles, and the new Avengers Tower (formerly Stark Tower). Avengers Tower has a feel similar to the helicarrier, while the Hulkbuster suit is "bruising like a tank".

First 5 Series 8 Scripts Leak
The first five scripts from Doctor Who series 8 have leaked online. They were apparently sent to BBC Worldwide's Miami office for translation when they were leaked to the internet. The BBC has issued a statement pleading with fans not to spoil the episodes to others
BBC Worldwide is currently investigating a security issue around Doctor Who Series 8 where unfinished material has inadvertently been made public. We deeply regret this and apologize to all the show's fans, the BBC and the cast and crew who have worked tirelessly making the series. We would like to make a plea to anyone who might have any of this material and spoilers associated with it not to share it with a wider audience so that everyone can enjoy the show as it should be seen when it launches. We know only too well that Doctor Who fans are the best in the world and we thank them for their help with this and their continued loyalty.

Tom Baker on Who Return
Speaking at the launch of the Horror Channel's classic season, Tom Baker said there is the possibility he might return to Doctor Who
I turned down The Five Doctors because it wasn’t long since I’d left – I had left Doctor Who because I think I’d run my course. I didn’t want to play 20 per cent of the part. I didn’t fancy being a feed for other Doctors – in fact, it filled me with horror. Now, of course, if someone asked me to do a scene with some other Doctors, I think, if they let me tamper with the script, it would probably be quite droll. I would think about that, yes.
