HBO Max Developing Green Lantern & Strange Adventures Series
WarnerMedia announced today that they are developing two live-action DC Comics-based series for the upcoming streaming service, HBO Max. One is an anthonology series called Strange Adventures and the other will feature members of the Green Lantern Corps. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will executive produce both series, with John Stephens acting as showrunner for Strange Adventures. Berlanti commented,
PS. I almost missed the announcement that Elizabeth Banks is producing a half-hour comedy series called DC Super Hero High.
Both of these original DC properties we’ll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television. An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can’t reveal any more about that just yet.HBO Max will launch in May 2020.

Michael Chabon to Serve as Star Trek: Picard Showrunner
CBS confirmed today that Michael Chabon will serve as showrunner on their new streaming series, Star Trek: Picard. Alex Kurtzman, overseer of all things Trek at CBS, commented
Daring, lyrical, humane, whimsical, celebrated: words that describe both Jean-Luc Picard and the literary genius of Michael Chabon. Despite a laundry list of accomplishments most writers only dream of, Michael shines with the heart and soul of a Trekkie who’s finally found his dream job. We’re so fortunate to have him at the helm as we explore this next chapter in the great captain’s life.Chabon said,
Star Trek has been an important part of my way of thinking about the world, the future, human nature, storytelling and myself since I was ten years old. I come to work every day in a state of joy and awe at having been entrusted with the character and the world of Jean-Luc Picard, with this vibrant strand of the rich, intricate and complex tapestry that is Trek.

ST: Discovery Showrunner Swap
Variety is reporting that Bryan Fuller will be stepping down from the post of Star Trek: Discovery showrunner due to time commitments with other projects. He will remain an executive producer, with producers Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts taking over day-to-day operations. This follows an announcement a few weeks ago that the premiere date would be pushed back from January to May. One thing that's a bit troubling is that Variety claims the lead character has still not been cast, when filming begins next month.

Star Trek: Discovery Tidbits
Bryan Fuller has released a few details of the new Star Trek series in a recent interview. Fuller will write the first episode with help from Alex Kurtzman and run the show alongside Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts. Nicholas Meyer, Jesse Alexander, and Kemp Powers will all write for the show. Meyer will write the second episode. Fuller also revealed the main character's nickname is Number One. I'm taking this as a sign that she's the ship's first officer.
UPDATE: Apparently the lead will be referred to exclusively as Number One until we learn her name in an episode.

Hulu Orders Runaways Pilot
Hulu has ordered a pilot episode based on Marvel's Runaways series, which centers on a group of children on the run from their criminal parents. The series will be produced by Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz. There is currently no word on when this would premiere if it is greenlit. I'm assuming it would be part of the MCU, but it doesn't actually say. Marvel head of TV Jeph Loeb commented,
We’ve known the Runaways‘ story would make great television and being lucky enough to have Josh and Stephanie — who have time and again created shows that speak so genuinely to this exact audience — write and produce the series is nothing short of remarkable.

The Defenders Gets Showrunners
We only got the showrunners for Iron Fist a few weeks ago, and here we are getting the same news for the Defenders. That, along with rumors that the show will film this year, suggests the two shows may be coming out very close together. In fact, I now anticipate we may get Defenders before any additional seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, or Daredevil.
The showrunners of Daredevil season two, Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, are set to return alongside Drew Goddard. Cindy Holland, Netflix Vice President of Original Content commented,
