The New Mutants Delayed (Again)

As part of ongoing efforts to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (aka COVID-19), Disney has delayed the releases of The New Mutants, Mulan, and something called Antlers until later this year. This is the latest impact the virus has had on the entertainment industry, as other film releases and conventions have already been postponed and production halted on some projects.

The New Mutants Trailer Coming Next Week

Director Josh Boone has announced that the second trailer for Fox's long-in-development movie, The New Mutants, will be released on Monday of next week. The first trailer was released over two years ago, back when the film has scheduled for April 2018.

Disney Updates Movie Release Schedule

Disney has released an updated version of their movie schedule, including new Star Wars, a delay to New Mutants, and Gambit getting the axe.

• 4/3/2020: New Mutants
• 12/16/2022: untitled Star Wars (I should note this is the same day as Aquaman 2)
• 12/20/2024: untitled Star Wars
• 12/18/2026: untitled Star Wars

Dark Phoenix & New Mutants Delayed

Fox has delayed the releases of both X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants. Dark Phoenix has been pushed from November 2 of this year to February 14, 2019. New Mutants will now be released on August 2, 2019 instead of February 22 (after originally being scheduled for next month). Check here for other Fox films affected by this latest batch of changes.

3 X-Men Movies Get New Release Dates

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool 2, New Mutants, and Gambit are all receiving new release dates. Deadpool 2 is moving from June 1 to May 18 of this year. New Mutants is being delayed from April 13 of this year to February 22, 2019. Gambit (which just lost director Gore Verbinski) is being delayed from February 14, 2019 to June 7, 2019.

Nat Wolff & James McAvoy Not in New Mutants

The journalist who broke yesterday's New Mutants news has confirmed that rumors of James McAvoy and Nat Wolff appearing in the film are false.

Anya Taylor-Joy Cast in New Mutants

Anya Taylor-Joy has officially joined the cast of Fox's The New Mutants, according to THR. Joy will play Magik, aka Illyana Rasputina, a mutant sorceress. They've also confirmed reports that Maisie Williams will be playing Wolfsbane, a mutant with the power to turn into a wolf.

X-Men Movie Dates

20th Century Fox has confirmed release dates for their next three X-Men movies. The New Mutants will debut on April 13, 2018; Deadpool 2 on June 1, 2018, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix on November 2, 2018.

The New Mutants Begins Pre-Production

Josh Boone has Instagrammed a couple photos that seem to indicate that pre-production on his X-Men movie has begun. The film is rumored to begin shooting next month, though there have been few major announcements.
