Doctor Who Special Moving to New Year's

Doctor Who Magazine (issue 532) has confirmed rumors that the Doctor Who holiday special will be moving to New Year's Day this winter. This marks the first time since the show's return in 2005 that no episode will air on Christmas day. It also marks the second episode of the new series (the first was "End of Time, Part 2") and the fifth episode ever to air on January 1.

UPDATE: BBC America has confirmed this and released the following synopsis.
As the New Year begins, a terrifying evil is stirring from across the centuries of Earth’s history. Will the Doctor, Ryan (Tosin Cole), Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) be able to overcome this threat to Planet Earth?
