Tom Baker Talks Horror Channel

Tom Baker spoke recently about the recent announcement that Classic Series episodes are going to be played on the Horror Channel
Horror is my very favorite genre, so I am thrilled the classic Doctor Who series have been picked up by the Horror Channel. There was clearly a darker edge to my storylines, which I think brought a new dimension to the series. I remember hearing of the series scaring children – I wonder how the audience will react to the series today, all grown up. The Horror of Fang Rock is one of my favorite stories so I’m looking forward to that one!
Beginning on the 18th, the Horror Channel will be broadcasting episodes of Doctor Who's classic series, beginning with An Unearthly Child (the very first story) then one episode from each Doctor for the remainder of the weekend. They'll then be showing episodes on weekdays after that.

Meta Fiction Synopsis

The CW has released the synopsis for the next episode of Supernatural.
Metatron attempts to get Castiel to join forces with him. Still furious with Metatron, Castiel refuses, which sets a surprising plan in motion. Meanwhile, Sam and Dean capture Gadreel.

Mother's Little Helper Review

This episode explains what Abaddon has been up to since we last saw her, which was all the way back in Road Trip. For the season villain, she sure doesn't get much screen time. She's been mentioned in more episodes than she's actually been in. Not many demons would be ruthless enough to manufacture their own armies. Crowley, Azazel, and Lilith were all happy with the share of souls that hell got. Abaddon has been doing everything in her power to increase that number. We've already seen that she's been calling in contracts early and now she's stealing souls from still-living people. If the boys don't stop her soon, she's going to have quite the army on her hands. It's actually a wonder none of the angels have gotten involved. Now that they're stuck on Earth, you'd think they'd be paying closer attention to cleaning it up.

Finally, after nine seasons, the Winchesters have gotten some sense knocked into them. They actually went out and recorded an exorcism on their phones. Another group of hunters did that all the way back in season 5, and this is the first we've seen the Winchesters do it. If I were them, I'd have it ready to go on my phone, in the tape deck in the Impala, and on boom boxes stationed throughout the bunker. I might it even set it as my ringtone in the hopes of catching demons off-guard when I receive a phone call.

I'm rather concerned about the fact that Crowley "tested" Dean in this episode. I'm not sure what the test was in preparation for, but it seems to be whether he'd be willing to protect Crowley. It's possible Crowley is experimenting with some sort of mind control to get Dean to do his bidding. Or maybe it's something to do with the mark of Cain. Maybe it's slowly turning him into a demon. I have the feeling Crowley knows more about the mark and the blade than he's letting on.

Sam Claflin Q&A

At a recent Catching Fire screening in London, Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair) did a question and answer panel. You can watch it in the video player below.

Gatiss to Write Two DW Episodes

Speaking to CBNFoz, Mark Gatiss has said that he will be writing two episodes in the upcoming season of Doctor Who. Gatiss has previously written Cold War and The Crimson Terror, as well as several other stories. He hinted at an appearance from Jane Austen, saying
One of the things which new Doctor Who sort of invented was the idea of a celebrity historical – Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Winston Churchill, Shakespeare. There’s three writers there so I think Jane Austen stands quite a quite a good chance actually… I’m not quite sure what the adventure would be. Maybe an alien posing as Mr Darcy.

9 Years of Doctor Who

Today marks nine years since Doctor Who returned to television screens everywhere. To celebrate, the BBC have released three promotional images of the 9th Doctor and his companions.

I'm hoping the BBC will do something more next year for the 10th anniversary. I've got a number of a ideas for what they could do. One is An Adventure in Space and Time 2 starring Russell T. Davies, Christopher Eccleston, Billie Piper, and others to tell the story of what it took to get the show back on the air. They could also do a one-off television story story starring the new series Doctors and their companions similar to The Day of the Doctor. If all else fails, they could do one of those talking heads show featuring interviews with the cast and behind the scenes footage.

Gatiss on Time Lords

Mark Gatiss spoke recently at a panel in Brazil about the Time Lords and the return of Gallifrey
Every time you go back to Gallifrey, it starts to make the Time Lords a bit too domesticated. I know that’s why Russell T Davies came up with the whole idea of the Doctor being the last one because eventually if you see them so often they become a bit like a bunch of MPs, whereas if you talk about them as this amazing, powerful force, they’re much more exciting.
On the prospect of writing a Gallifrey-based story
I don’t know if I would want to do one. I think the way the Time Lords were represented in The End of Time and The Day of the Doctor was very exciting because we’re seeing them in a crisis and they’re trying to come up with different ways of saving themselves. But I suppose if the Doctor ever does find Gallifrey again, then we might find out more. Who knows…

Mother's Little Helper Sneak Peek

Sneak peek of next week's Supernatural

Blade Runners Review

I always knew there had to be someone else left from the Men of Letters. However, I always thought it would be more than one person. It made more sense to me for there to be an entire secret society out there. It didn't seem like there were only six or seven members in the organization. I thought there would be hundreds, all across the world. That, of course, would raise the question of why the guy didn't give the key to the bunker to them. The thing that always got me was where the power and water in the bunker was coming from. There's the possibility that it's provided by some sort of spell, but I always thought someone was paying the bills. Though, if they'd been paying the bills for fifty years, you'd think they'd use the place.

The show seems to have taken an awfully long break from the First Blade plotline. There were an entire four episodes with barely a mention of the blade or the Mark of Cain. They did mention the angel war a couple episodes ago, so that was good. I know the show does periodically take breaks from the story arc, but normally it's only for one or two episodes, not four.

It seems unlikely that the guy would coop himself up in a building with no doors and windows for 50 years. Sooner or later, he's going to catch cabin fever and go insane. If I could live forever, I'd want someone to spend the time with. You'd think he would have a girlfriend or something. All he's got is the monsters in his "zoo". He's got no one to spend eternity with, yet he doesn't seem the least bit lonely. Unless of course, that's why he wanted Dean.

Given how long ago Crowley first injected human blood, it's surprising that his addiction has only just now surfaced. He blames Sam and Dean for getting him addicted, which is a reference to the end of season 8. That was months ago in the show's timeframe and we've seen him quite a bit since then. In all that time, human blood was not mentioned once. Perhaps it's not addictive at first, but has to be injected multiple times in order to develop a dependency.

Bryce Johnson to Star in Bloodlines

Pretty Little Liars star Bryce Johnson has been cast in the new Supernatural spin-off, Bloodlines. However, there is no news yet on who he actually plays.

Gatiss on Series 8

Mark Gatiss has spoken to Adorocinema about series 8 of Doctor Who. Following are a few tidbits from the interview
I saw a little of Peter Capaldi in action and he is wonderful. I think it will be very exciting for everyone, because it is a more dangerous, more urgent Doctor. It has a side of crazy.

The series has already turned eight, is not new anymore, then it’s time to do something more radical. I think it will be fantastic.
Asked if we might see the Master, he said
I think anything is possible, but with this new Doctor, I think it’s important not to get stuck on old preferences.

Lego Doctor Who Set in Review

The Doctor Who set on Lego Cuusoo has gathered 10,000 supporters and entered the review phase. The set was created by GlenBricker and Kaminoan and will be reviewed sometime between May and September. Lego had this to say on the matter
We’re looking forward to considering this project in the LEGO Review, but for now excuse us while we go make an electroshock device … just in case this really IS a Nestene plot to take over the world via a toy factory! We now officially advance this project to the Review phase.

What happens now?

This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. This includes factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product goes through a process like this and must meet the same standards.

This project qualifies for the Second 2014 Review beginning in May and ending in September.

The review is a thorough process and from its start, and can take several months. When finished, we make a “go/no go” decision to develop and sell a product based on the Doctor Who concept.

When the review is complete, we will inform you of our decision. If green-lit, this project goes into the longest phase of the project; the Development phase. During this time, LEGO model designers refine the product and develop it for release, we create the product materials (box, instructions, marketing), and get everything ready for a production run. This also takes several months.

Keeley Hawes to Appear in Series 8

The BBC have announced that Keeley Hawes (Line of Duty) will guest star in series 8. She will appear in episode 5 as the villainous Ms. Delphox

Hawes said
I am delighted to join Doctor Who and to be working with this incredible team. Ms Delphox is a great character and someone I've had a lot of fun playing.
Moffat added
Anyone watching Jed Mercurio's amazing Line Of Duty will know that Keeley Hawes is having one hell of year. And now it's about to get even better as she achieves the greatest villainy yet attempted on Doctor Who: she plays a banker.
