Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Air Date, Casting, & Trailer

CBS announced today that the second season of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on January 17 of next year. They also announced that Hannah Spear will play Saru's sister and that Kenric Green will have an unspecified role.

Jan Luis Castellanos Cast in Runaways

Marvel announced today at New York Comic Con that Jan Luis Castellanos has joined the cast of Runaways as Topher. The character, who originated in the comics, is described as,

a crafty runaway who schools our kids on new levels of street game. The consummate survivor, Topher knows how to read the room and win friends.

They also released a synopsis for the second season (or at least this is the first I'm seeing it).

In Season 2, the Runaways have left their homes (and evil parents) behind and now have to learn to live on their own. As they scavenge for food, search for shelter, and take care of one another, our kids begin to realize, for better or worse, they're stuck with each other. And it's up to them to take down P.R.I.D.E. once and for all. But someone sent a mysterious message to Jonah... Is there a mole in the Runaways? Meanwhile P.R.I.D.E. is focused on finding their children, and Jonah has his own dangerous plan in mind.

Titans Renewed for Second Season

At the series premiere screening in New York today, Geoff Johns announced that DC has granted an early renewal to their Titans series. No release date or episode count has been announced yet. The first season will launch online next week.

Timeless Season 2 Premiere Screening in NYC

Sony Pictures Television & People Magazine will be hosting a screening of the Timeless season 2 premiere at the New York Historical Society on Wednesday, March 7 from 3-5pm. Following the screening, there will be a panel consisting of lead actress Abigail Spencer, co-showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman, executive producer Marney Hochman, costume designer Mari-An Ceo, and Vice President, Chief Historian & Director of the N-YHS’ Center for Women's History Valerie Paley, moderated by People's editor-in-chief Jess Cagle. You can register here for free, though it's described as first-come, first-served.

Georgiou Will Return on Discovery

At today's New York Comic Con panel, producer Gretchen J. Berg confirmed that Michelle Yeoh will return as Philippa Georgiou. We'll have to wait and find out if it's just a flashback or if she's still alive.

Marvel NYCC Posters

IGN has released the New York Comic Con posters for Jessica Jones, Runaways, Agents of SHIELD, and Cloak & Dagger.

Marvel TV Heading to NYCC

New York Comic Con has confirmed panels for The Gifted, Agents of SHIELD, Runaways, and The Punisher. The AoS panel will take place Saturday October 7 at the Madison Square Garden Theater from 2-3:15pm and feature Jeph Loeb, "the entire cast," producers, and the first footage from the new season. The Punisher panel will take place in the same location from 5:15-6:15 and will include Jeph Loeb, Frank Castle and exclusive new footage. The panel for The Gifted will occur the next day in the convention center's main stage from 2:45-3:45 and will feature the cast, producers, and a look at the second episode (the first episode debuts the previous Monday). The panel for Runaways will happen Friday on the main stage from 7:45-9:15 and will feature the cast, producers, and exclusive footage.

UPDATE: The Punisher panel has been pulled from the schedule

Evangeline Lilly Confirms Avengers 4 Appearance

In an interview with Blastr today, Evangeline Lilly confirmed she will be in the fourth Avengers movie.

The Wasp won't be in the first part, she'll be in the second part, because they really want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man And The Wasp.

Sigourney Weaver Cast in The Defenders

It looks like those Sigourney Weaver rumors were true. Jeph Loeb announced at comic con today that the actress will play the antagonist in the upcoming Defenders series. There's no word on exactly which villain she will portray.

Iron Fist & AoS Coming to NYCC

Marvel has announced that they'll be holding Iron Fist and Agents of SHIELD panels at New York Comic Con next month. The Iron Fist panel will take place Saturday 6:30-7:30 in the main panel room. The Agents of SHIELD panel will occur the day before from 7:30-8:45 in the same location. Both panels will be moderated by Jeph Loeb with unspecified cast members in attendance.

Star Trek: DSC Books & Comics Coming

At Mission: New York today, the Star Trek: Discovery team announced that the show will be getting tie-in books and comics. This in and of itself is hardly surprising. The books will be published by Simon & Schuster (a division of CBS) and the comics by IDW (which currently prints other Star Trek comics). The first novel will be written by David Mack, while the team for the comics has yet to be confirmed. Discovery/Voyager writer Kirsten Beyer will oversee the spin-off material.

Elementary Coming to NYCC

New York Comic Con has announced they will be holding a panel featuring the stars of Elementary. The panel will take place Friday at 1:00 in the Hammerstein Ballroom and will feature Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Nelsan Ellis, and Rob Doherty. A new episode will be screened at the beginning of the panel. Unfortunately, Friday tickets for the convention are completely sold out at this point. They do not appear to be doing photo ops.

Doctor Who & Class at NYCC

The BBC has announced that the casts of Doctor Who and Class will have their own panels at New York Comic Con this October. The Doctor Who panel will consist of Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie, Steven Moffat, and Brian Minchin. The Class panel will contain Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins, Vivian Oparah, Patrick Nesss, and Brian Minchin. Given the fact that filming on Class is supposed to conclude about 2-3 weeks before the convention, we might get a trailer or release date during the panel. I'd be surprised if we got anything for Doctor Who, though they will have been filming for over three months at the point.

UPDATE: Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, and Karen Gillan are already scheduled to attend (though they'll likely be in a separate panel). The panels will take place on Friday in Madison Square Garden.

UPDATE 2: Apparently we will be getting a "sneak peek" of upcoming Doctor Who episodes, but that could mean anything

NYC Deep Breath Screening Highlights

The BBC has released a video with highlights from yesterday's screening of Deep Breath in New York.

Matt, Jenna, and Arthur at Once

Matt and Jenna met up with Arthur Darvill on Monday in New York. Arthur was performing in the Broadway musical Once. Earlier in the evening, they attended the Peabody Awards where Steven Moffat won an Institutional Peabody.

Moffat Is Pure Genius

Seriously, he's been planning the New York aspect of this episode for far longer than anyone imagined. Melody regenerated alone in 1960s New York. Well, guess who's stuck in the past in New York and wants children to raise? That's right, her f*cking parents! Amy and Rory get to properly raise their daughter.

I think she regenerated again after moving out from her parents, and ended up as Mels. Then she was picked up by the Silence and turned into a psychopath.
